The rearview mirror is a useful rotating device to increase the level of safety during driving. The rear view mirrors consist of a mirror, a mirror support, an arm and a fixing base. The positioning of the rear-view mirrors in the car can be:
- central, is placed inside the passenger compartment, above the windshield, in a central position. Allows a rear view of the vehicle. It is equipped, through a lever, with an anti-reflective function, which allows the driver not to be distracted by the excessive brightness of the headlights of the vehicle that follows it;
- Lateral, it is placed outside the vehicle and allows the side view of the vehicle. It is usually mounted on the base of the pillars of the front doors.
Most side and center mirrors are provided with a lever or an arm through which manual adjustment is possible. Other types of mirrors, more sophisticated, use a type of electronic adjustment in which the position of the mirror is guaranteed by the help of a motor operated by buttons.
Rear view mirrors are now considered an essential element in the equipment of a car. In fact, if used correctly, they help to avoid unpleasant dangerous situations while driving, maintain a high level of safety on the roads and help the driver during maneuvers.
The code of the road considers that the absence of an efficient rear vision device is a serious infraction, and it is not possible to respond positively to the periodic checking of the vehicle.
